Job Title: Maintenance Job Description

Supervisor: Maintenance Mgr

Hours: Part time - 20 - 30 hours a week

Goal Of This Position 

Responsible for performing building maintenance tasks. Performance of building maintenance tasks in one or more areas  (e.g. paint, tile, carpentry; electrical; heating, and ventilation; plumbing, etc.); Perform general cleaning. Ensure timely/accurate completion and continued development of Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedules, while providing ongoing training for store management.

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs preventive maintenance service, emergency repair, and cosmetic repairs on restaurant equipment and property; performs necessary modifications to equipment installations.

  • Assist where necessary in the installation of equipment resulting from special projects (i.e. timers, heat tape, lighting)

  • Monitors and oversees outside contract work in assigned stores, assures proper coordination and communication between all concerned parties.

  • Performs regular inspections of all assigned locations and reports the condition of equipment and property, as well as maintenance status.

  • Ensures accurate and timely reporting of invoices, maintenance logs, purchase orders, and any other pertinent administrative paperwork necessary. 

  • Maintains records of store level equipment inventory, spare parts and company owned tool inventories. Provides reports as requested.

  • Assists supervisor with recommendations regarding capital budget expenditures for equipment, building and property repair or replacement.

  • Maintains current service and warranty records and prevents unwarranted repair expenses or violation of warranties.

  • Performs duties as required for store openings, special events, fairs and the store closing program; assists in transfer, sales and/or disposal of equipment. Assists with supervisory responsibilities in the absence of supervisor, as requested.

Exterior:

Keep Patio and Beer Garden clean

Blow and spot sweep all debris 

Plant new flowers in spring 

Water all flowers and pull dead flowers out

Trim all trees and bushes 

Change light bulbs on exterior

Scrape gum off sidewalks and patios

Remove any trash or debris from patios

Fix all broken umbrellas and bases

Fix broken tables (stain once per year)

Make sure gates are closing and latching properly

Fill propane tanks once per week 

Check heaters to make sure they work 

Keep heaters properly secured 

Secure all patios when high wind warnings arise

Clean trash from gutters on bistro roof

Make sure heat tape is on and working in winter

Swamp coolers cleaned and serviced every spring and fall

Assist owner of building with any building maintenance projects requested

Check door knobs and fix/tighten

Stain or paint outside doors annually

Keep all tools and patio equipment stored neatly 

Pull weeds around entire premises

Inspect and fix gelato cart

Install new furniture

Move items between Flagstaff and Williams storage building 

Keep storage building and back area clean and organized

Interior:

Preventative maintenance on all equipment

  • Glycol machine, fridges, etc

Fix all breakdowns or report if more help is required

Check all water sources for leaks 

  • Toilets, sinks, dish pit, soda guns

Check and replace light bulbs

Check and replace wall outlets

Paint and patch walls 

Install new equipment when it arrives

Fix bar stools and chairs

Fix, fill cracks and level all tables 

Change heater filters monthly (in cold season)

Organize tools and tool room

DeScale water heaters twice yearly, more if needed

Skills:

Ability to work independently, exercising judgment and initiative. Ability to inspect and correctly diagnose standard malfunctions in restaurant equipment.  Ability to perform minor and major technical repairs and adjustments within the time frames as established. Ability to Read and interpret manuals, schematics, plans and specifications related to duties.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 65 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

Hourly position that requires a flexible schedule, often-working workdays, weekends, and holidays.
