CONCESSIONS MANAGER

  • Location: Bearizona Grill

  • Compensation: Hourly + Tips 

Primary Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for leading, delegating, and managing the daily functions of the concessions at Bearizona Grill, while maintaining a positive work environment through inspiring, developing, and providing a team-focused (always innovative) vision of excellence. This position leads the creation of genuine and sincere memorable connections with our guests and is responsible for meeting and exceeding company financial results.

Reports to the General Manager of Canyonlands and Bearizona Grill.

Specific Job Duties

  • Approves, reviews, and directs the organizing, creating, and communicating of scheduling for all concession related areas according to past sales, trends, budgets, events and is accountable for all staffing needs.

  • Responsible for financial accuracy of sales records, expenses, and inventories through proactively researching, reviewing, correcting discrepancies, and maximizing profitability

  • Routinely audit checkouts to minimize fraudulent activity and hold staff members accountable for proper checkout procedures.

  • Drives excellence in service that creates meaningful and genuine connections with guests and translates into positive social feedback commentaries and minimal formal guest complaints

  • Ensures that our service staff is approaching each guest with proper steps of service

  • Speaks the history, traditions, and education surrounding the company culture, product knowledge, and service standards through providing coaching, training, and education on a daily basis. Is an ambassador for the Kennelly Concepts brands.

  • Alongside ownership and the leadership team, conducts energetic, passionate, and educational pre-shift meetings that prepare team members with the tools to provide excellence in service

  • Recruits, interviews, selects, and trains team service oriented individuals

  • Leads a safe, secure, and healthy facility environment by establishing, following, and enforcing sanitation standards, and procedures complying with health and legal regulations and maintaining security systems when applicable

  • Investigates and actively resolves guest issues and responds to outside complaints in a timely and appropriate manner

  • Actively encourage staff to have guests to review us online through Yelp, Tripadvisor, Google+, and Facebook

  • Ensures proper professional conduct and uniform appearance\dress code of all team members

  • Provides a positive work environment free of harassment or discrimination

  • Leads the cleanliness and maintenance of the facilities structure, equipment, and landscaping  

  • Ensures appropriate levels of lighting, music, and comfortable temperatures for our guests

  • Provides a vision for the team and mentors each through development and playing an active role in acquiring new skills.

  • Leads a team atmosphere which welcomes new team-members and actively provides optimistic and helpful coaching from all team members

  • Demonstrates a confident command of knowledge regarding products and services and ensures staff knows, demonstrates, and communicates products and service to our guests confidently

  • Follows company policies and standards and holds staff accountable to do the same

  • Ensures the quality of food and beverages produced meet company and guest standards at all times

  • Secures company cash and maintains accurate recording and cash handling procedures

  • Actively involved in the budgeting, planning, reviewing, and analyzing of the stores financial obligations in the fiscal year

  • Supports marketing initiatives positively and actively and meets expected results

  • Controls purchasing and par levels of products and supplies in a financially responsible manner without compromising quality of service and products

  • Ensures fun and energetic orientations for new team members and communicates training in a timely and accurate manner

  • Oversees expected completion and use of training materials

  • Provides constant professional feedback to all team members to meet company service and job expectations

  • Safeguards the sale of alcoholic beverages through maintaining staff certifications, providing education and training, and is proactive about recognizing appropriate service of alcohol

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position is responsible for the direct supervision of all employees at Bearizona Grill, including assisting in managing patio bar staff alongside beverage manager.


Managing Guest Experience:

  • Ensuring the highest standard of food and beverage products and service for every guest

  • Be knowledgeable of all food products to confidently answer guests questions about special diets

  • Handling any guest complaints or issues in a professional manner

  • Make sure all staff members interact with guests in a happy bubbly manner at all times


Managing Product Usage, Inventory & Supplies

  • Proper portioning practices to eliminate waste/maintain COGs

  • Proper storage and handling of all beverage and food items

  • Ensuring all products are properly labeled and dated.

  • Manage COG’s: Projecting weekly sales and creating budgets for COG’s

  • Weekly/Daily Inventories Taken

      • Vending machine inventory

      • Food Items

      • Chemical/cleaning/office supplies

      • FIFO inventory protocol


Management of Physical Space:

  • Oversee the routine cleaning and maintenance of all equipment.

  • Make sure patio space is clean and free of any potential hazards.

  • Maintaining all flower planters and any seasonal decorations that may be displayed.

  • Ensuring that the space is opened and closed according to company standards.

  • Creating checklists for all open/mid shift/closing procedures


Staff Management:

  • Building Staff schedule through wheniwork app (two weeks in advance)

  • Continued Education on new and current products

  • Coaching and developing staff in areas of apparent opportunities for growth.

  • Be open to personal coaching and growth plans set by Kennelly Concepts Executive team. 

  • Ensuring all staff members are following all rules and procedures and taking appropriate disciplinary actions when necessary.


Brand Marketing and Profitability:

  • Development of strategies to increase sales on retail, flights, bottle sales etc.

  • Event planning/coordination;Includes involvement in communication with creative team for company social media calendar

  • Working with Creative team to execute local marketing initiatives.

  • Assisting, planning and execution of events at Bearizona to increase traffic and revenue


Communication With Leadership Team

  • Sending daily recap information in a timely manner

  • Communicate with HR on any new hires or disciplinary actions by e-mailBrand

Work Environment:

This job operates in an open-office setting and requires mobility inside and outside The Grill. Movement is spent in high-traffic areas while performing various tasks. This position will come in contact and use heavy to light machinery used to prepare food and beverages. The use of a phone, computer, printer, and Point of Sales system are required. The position is exposed to high-energy loud music levels and lowlights

Physical Demands:

The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position requires the ability to walk/stand and sustain physical activity for extended periods of time (10+ hours). Requires at times high and low levels of movement with the ability to reach with arms, kneel, crouch, climb, balance, and squat. Requires the lifting of items up to 50 lbs. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

Full-time position that requires a flexible schedule, often-working workdays, weekends, and holidays. Shifts include normally as early as 8 a.m. and as late as 9 p.m.

Experience and Education:

  • Level 1 Certified Beer Server and Certified Cicerone

  • Arizona Title 4 Liquor Training Basic and Managers

  • Coconino County Food Managers Card
